This policy explains how the Tyler Crichton for St. James campaign handles information collected through this website, campaign forms, and related campaign services.
Information We Collect
When you contact us, volunteer, request a lawn sign, or make or pledge a contribution, we collect the information you choose to provide. This may include your name, contact details, address, message, volunteer interests, and contribution details. Complete payment-card information is handled by payment providers rather than stored by the campaign. We do not ask for online banking passwords or security answers.
We also collect limited information about visits to this website, such as pages viewed, referring source, browser or device type, interactions with campaign links, and campaign attribution information. We use it to understand website use and assess campaign advertising. We do not intentionally include form entries, messages, direct contact details, or contribution amounts in website analytics.
How We Use Information
- Respond to messages and requests from residents.
- Coordinate volunteers, lawn signs, events, and communications you request or agree to receive.
- Process contributions and maintain required campaign records.
- Improve the website and evaluate campaign advertising.
- Prevent misuse and comply with legal obligations.
Privacy and Public Disclosure
Your information is private. The campaign does not sell or rent personal information. Except where disclosure is required by applicable law, we will not publish personal information you submit or information about your individual use of this website.
That legal exception is important for elections. Under current Manitoba and Winnipeg rules, formal nomination papers are available for public inspection. A candidate’s public audited financial statement must also identify each contributor whose total contributions exceed $250, including their name, address, and contribution amount. Ordinary contact, volunteer, lawn-sign, newsletter, and website-usage information does not become public simply because the campaign receives it.
Any legally required public disclosure will be limited to the information the law requires. We otherwise disclose personal information only to authorized campaign team members and service providers who need it to operate the campaign, when you ask or consent, or when required to meet legal or safety obligations.
Service Providers
We use service providers to run this website and its forms, process contributions, deliver communications, measure website use, and manage advertising. These currently include NationBuilder, PostHog, Google, and payment providers. We limit the information provided to what is reasonably needed for those services. Providers may process information outside Canada and apply their own privacy policies. This private service processing is not publication by the campaign.
Retention and Safeguards
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for campaign operations, required records, and legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your Choices and Questions
You can use browser privacy controls or content-blocking tools to limit website analytics. You may also choose not to submit a form and contact the campaign through another available channel.
To ask a privacy question or request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you provided, where applicable, please contact the campaign. Some records must be retained or disclosed to meet legal requirements.
