Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Tyler Crichton for St. James campaign handles information through this website. It applies to the campaign website and its forms, not to unrelated websites you may visit through external links.

Information we handle

Information you choose to provide. When you contact the campaign, volunteer, request a lawn sign, or make or pledge a contribution, the relevant NationBuilder form may ask for details such as your name, contact information, address, message, volunteer interests, and contribution details. Online payment information is handled by NationBuilder and its payment providers. The eTransfer process does not ask for banking credentials, account numbers, passwords, or security answers.

Website and campaign analytics. We use PostHog to record one pageview for each full page load. It may receive the page address, referring page, and browser and device details. Like any web service, PostHog necessarily receives connection information such as an IP address while handling a request. The PostHog project is configured not to store client IP addresses with events, although permitted security or location processing may occur transiently before the address is discarded. For approved campaign links, we may also record that a visitor selected campaign information, contact, volunteer, lawn-sign, or donation calls to action. A visit to a corresponding thank-you page may be recorded as a completion signal that is not intentionally linked to the submitted form contents. Form fields, messages, link text, names, email addresses, telephone numbers, street addresses, and contribution amounts are not intentionally sent to PostHog.

Advertising attribution. Visits from our Google Search campaign may include campaign tags such as source, medium, campaign, ad-group, and keyword-target identifiers. We retain only expected campaign values and opaque numeric identifiers for reporting. Raw advertising click identifiers, including gclid, dclid, gbraid, wbraid, and msclkid, are removed from page addresses and properties sent to PostHog; we may retain only a true-or-false indication that one was present. The visitor’s address bar is not changed by this analytics safeguard.

Aggregate advertising reports. We may combine PostHog website reporting with aggregate Google Ads information such as impressions, clicks, cost, campaign, ad-group, ad, and keyword performance. This inbound reporting is used to evaluate the campaign. We do not send PostHog events or audiences back to Google Ads for conversion bidding, remarketing, or voter targeting.

How we use information

  • Respond to messages and requests from residents.
  • Coordinate volunteers, lawn signs, events, and campaign communications.
  • Process and administer eligible campaign contributions and related records.
  • Understand website use and assess campaign advertising in aggregate.
  • Protect the website, prevent misuse, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Browser storage and analytics limits

PostHog is configured in cookieless mode on this site and does not use PostHog cookies or persistent local storage. Separately, this website uses first-party session storage in the current browser tab to remember permitted Search campaign attribution while you move between pages. Closing the tab clears that session attribution. You can also clear or block session storage through your browser settings, although doing so may make campaign reporting less accurate.

PostHog autocapture, session replay, heatmaps, performance capture, surveys, automatic exception capture, and page-leave capture are disabled on this site. Logged-in NationBuilder users receive an internal-or-test marker on each analytics event so their activity can be excluded from campaign reporting without creating an identified PostHog person profile.

Service providers and disclosure

We rely on service providers including NationBuilder for campaign website and form administration, PostHog for website analytics, Google for advertising and aggregate ad reporting, and payment providers for online contributions. PostHog analytics are sent through g.tylerforstjames.ca to PostHog’s US Cloud. These providers handle data under their own terms and privacy practices and may process it outside Manitoba or Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to foreign law.

The campaign does not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law, for campaign-finance administration, to protect people or the campaign, or to a provider acting on the campaign’s behalf.

Retention and safeguards

We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, campaign administration, record-keeping, and applicable legal requirements. Service providers may retain information according to their configured retention periods. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and questions

You can use browser privacy controls or content-blocking tools to limit analytics. You may also choose not to submit a form and contact the campaign through another available channel.

To ask a privacy question or request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you provided, where applicable, please contact the campaign. Some records may need to be retained for legal or campaign-administration purposes.

Policy updates

We may update this policy when campaign practices or service providers change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Where appropriate, we will provide additional notice before materially expanding how information is collected or used.
